Amy M. Drake was a daughter, sister, and in the most important aspects of her life a wife and mother to her two children. At the age of 40 Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought long and hard while continuing to put her family first. After her diagnosis she began reaching out to others battling breast cancer, offering them encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, or just a hug, wanting them to know that someone understood what they were going through. Amy helped organize a “Walk for Life” that was held at the Allegany County Fair Grounds. After her involvement with this event, she dreamt of organizing a 5k walk in Angelica to help raise money for those locally fighting cancer. Unfortunately, her dream was not fulfilled before losing her battle with breast cancer. However, in the years following her family has been able to make her dream come true. For the last 5 years on the second Saturday in October the Amy M. Drake Memorial 5k walk has been held in Angelica. The walk route is the same way Amy would take through town, walking with her mom, sister and children. Making it the perfect route for remembering her as we walk.
Sadly, due to COVID-19 the 5k walk will be postponed until October 2021. In an effort to continue raising money for this cause all proceeds from the sale of apparel from the White Imprints Amy M. Drake Memorial 5k store will be donated to the Allegany County Cancer Services. We appreciate and thank you for your continued support.
